ZORK is a revolutionary still wine closure with the convenience of screw cap and the pop of a cork. It is easy to remove by hand and simple to reseal.
Developed and manufactured in South Australia, ZORK is a market-driven solution unlike any other wine closure. It perfectly seals the bottle while preserving the integrity of the wine, the quality of the brand and the sense of celebration associated with opening a fine red or white.
For the winemaker, ZORK offers a competitively priced, quality-controlled, consistent barrier to oxygen. Made from durable food-grade polymers, it will not taint the wine or scalp its flavour. It is also 100 percent recyclable.
It has been designed for use on standard high-speed filling lines, with minor modifications, but can also be applied using a modified beer capper. ZORK is engineered to snap on to the neckband of standard cork-mouth bottles in a positive, consistent application.
ZORK’s unique design also means it does not require the added cost of a capsule to finish the packaging presentation and is available in a range of colours with print options available.

Problem/Customer Requirement
As a start up company, ZORK was seeking far more than just a traditional plastic moulding company.
Rather, it had determined it needed a product development partner. A company that could practically assist it in bringing its revolutionary still wine closure product concept from the early stages of tooling development and trialling through to a consistently produced high volume commercial product.
While elegantly simple to use, it was well recognised, by its creators, that the ZORK Popcap would present an initial range of substantial production design challenges.
In selecting Techno Plas, ZORK believed it would be working with a company that could deliver both the commercial and technical solution that was required.
Also of importance, was Techno Plas’ highly automated plant and its capacity to manage full product assembly.

- From the comprehensive brief provided, Techno Plas prepared a detailed commercial proposal for ZORK. This examined all facets of the slated project and documented precisely how the company would utilise its broad technical capabilities to execute and deliver on the customer’s wide range of requirements.
- A pivotal component of the proposal was a full summary of how Techno Plas would contribute to the scoping, design, build and management of the closure’s unique assembly machine.
Result/Outcome for Customer
- A close business and product development partnership has been formed between ZORK and Techno Plas. This has greatly assisted ongoing product enhancement.
- Technical advice – with respect to tool and product design as these pertain to injection moulding – has been continually supplied to ZORK throughout product trialling and development.
- The feedback supplied by Techno Plas was integral in achieving a commercially viable product and assisted ZORK with its expansion plans which include those for overseas manufacturing operations.
